Keep a backup of your log
Your sightings are stored only on your iPhone. There is no account and no cloud sync, so deleting the app deletes your log.
To back up: Settings → Export CSV, then save the file to iCloud Drive, Files, or email it to yourself.
To restore, on the same iPhone or a new one: Settings → Import CSV and pick that file. Sightings already in the app are skipped, so importing twice is harmless. Import the file exactly as exported — opening and re-saving it in Numbers or Excel changes the dates.
Logging
- Tap an animal to log one, right now.
- Press and hold to set a count, a note, a different time, or a fish's weight and length.
- Undo appears after every log.
- Log earlier on the home screen reads the date and place from a photo, or lets you drop a pin.
Location
Wildlife Log asks for location the first time you log, not at launch. If you decline, sightings are still saved and marked “No location” in History — tap that badge to place one by hand. You can change the permission any time in Settings → Wildlife Log → Location.
Siri and Control Center
Say “Log a deer in Wildlife Log” or “I saw a bald eagle Wildlife Log.” Siri logs without opening the app and uses your last known location if it is recent. To add the Control Center button, open Control Center, tap +, and search for Wildlife Log.
